UAE Startups Raised $727 Million in Q3, but Two Deals Did Most of the Work
Moove and Tabby accounted for two-thirds of UAE startup funding in the third quarter, while Series A rounds thinned and early-stage deals grew. A founder's reading of the numbers and October's early rounds.

DUBAI — Headline funding totals can mislead. UAE startups raised $727 million across 31 named rounds in the third quarter of 2026, up from $535 million across 23 rounds in the second quarter, according to the DXBStart Q3 2026 report. But the same report shows that the picture beneath the total is more mixed, and the details matter for any founder planning a raise.
Two Deals Carried the Quarter
DXBStart, a tracker of UAE startup rounds, says two late-stage deals made up two-thirds of the total:
- Moove: a $250 million Series C in August, led by Mubadala, Woven Capital and Ion Pacific. The report says it valued the company at $2.1 billion. Moove was founded in Lagos in 2020 and is now headquartered in Dubai.
- Tabby: a $233 million Series F in September, led by Blue Pool Capital, valuing it at $6.5 billion. DXBStart notes that Tabby moved its headquarters to Riyadh in 2023 but includes it because it operates in the UAE.
Without Tabby, DXBStart says, the quarter would have come in at $494 million, below the second quarter. The median disclosed round was $6.8 million, against $7.0 million in Q2.
Series A Thinned, Early Stage Grew
Under the headline, DXBStart reports a split by stage:
- Series A: three rounds worth $29 million, down from seven rounds and $424 million in Q2. (Q2 was inflated by one $250 million round.)
- Pre-seed, seed and pre-Series A: 12 rounds worth $44 million, up from nine worth $19.5 million.
- Series B and later: five rounds totaling $586 million. DXBStart notes that none was led by a growth fund based in the region.
By sector, fintech accounted for 13 of the 31 rounds and $423 million. AI, the story of Q2, produced six rounds worth $11.5 million between them, according to the report.
The Regional View
A different dataset points the same way. EnterpriseAM, reporting on Magnitt’s Q3 data, said regional mega-rounds hit a record while the early-stage deal count across the first nine months fell 45% year on year. It reports that regional startups raised about $3 billion across 351 transactions in that period, down 7% in value and 33% in volume, and that UAE funding rose 17% year on year to $1.6 billion. MENA-based investors supplied 58% of the capital deployed, up from 50% a year earlier.
Magnitt covers the MENA region and counts differently from DXBStart, so the two sets of figures are not directly comparable.
October’s Early Rounds
Smaller deals have continued this month, according to a roundup by Arab News:
- CapQuest, a Dubai-based equity-management platform, raised $1 million in a pre-seed round led by Oraseya Capital and AMKM Family Office. It helps companies manage cap tables, employee equity, vesting and fundraising, and serves clients in 11 countries.
- Popcorn AI Studio, a UAE creative-technology startup founded by Egyptian entrepreneurs Shady Essam and Mohamed Hedar, raised $1 million in pre-seed funding led by Emirati investor Mohammed Bin Bouta Alharsoosi. A Zawya press release says the company focuses on Arabic-language video production.
- Nabta Health, a UAE preventive-health platform focused on women’s health, reached the second close of a $3 million pre-Series A round led by Phoenix Venture Partners, according to EnterpriseAM. The amount raised in that closing was not disclosed.
What Founders Can Take From It
This is our editorial reading of the data above.
- Plan for a thin middle. If DXBStart’s counts hold, Series A is the stage where fewer deals are closing, so a pre-seed or seed company should plan runway with that in mind.
- Early rounds are active. Pre-seed and seed deals rose in both count and total in Q3, and October’s examples are in that range.
- Local capital matters. Magnitt’s data show MENA-based investors supplying a growing share of capital. Mubadala led or co-led two of Q3’s biggest rounds, according to DXBStart.
- Watch Q4. DXBStart says it will be watching whether a regional growth fund leads a later-stage round, and expects many Q4 rounds to be announced around GITEX Global in December.
Figures come from DXBStart (published Oct. 4, 2026), EnterpriseAM’s report on Magnitt data, Arab News and Zawya as of October 27, 2026. Tracker counts depend on each source’s methodology and may be revised.
